Nostalgic

I'm feeling all sentimental about this kid tonight.

No recent major milestones or anything, it's just that he's getting big. He's not quite nine and a half, but really he's closer to 18 than he is to his birth.

Tonight we were walking home from fishing, just he and I, and he slipped his hand into mine. I silently gasped. It was a huge hand. Big and kind of rough. It wasn't a little boys hand anymore and it didn't stay in mine for long. Almost as quick as it slipped in, it was pulled out.

Now don't get me wrong, he still drives me nuts. His love of Star Wars and Bak-u-gon baffles me and his constant chatter and commotion wears me out. But for just a moment tonight my heart stopped when I realized that he's not gonna be a little boy much longer.

PS. Don't forget to enter your guesses in my Grocery Game!

Oh I have those nostalgic feelings too sometimes. Mostly when they are sleeping.

Those are some of my same thoughts about Micah. How do they grow up so quickly? I still think our boys would be great friends (too bad we live like 4000 miles away from each other). Miss ya!

So sweet. I had those very same thoughts today as I sent my girls out the door to their last days of school. Time goes SO very quickly.

Thanks for the tears and sharing your sweet moment with your boy! You know I just eat that stuff up!

AAAAAAAaaaah!

The tears seriously came to my eyes and my heart stopped for a moment as I read your description of his hand.

I often massage Hunter's back, he melts when I do this. His back is so different than Autumn's. And his broad shoulders. I often wonder how big my boy will be and how much money my grocery budget will be to support that masculine body!

Any good fishing?

so sweet. And I love that you mentioned that he still drives you crazy and wears you out! That's what mothering is all about - caught between the gushing love and going insane :-)

Ugh...oh my. My son's hands are bigger than mine. I am so sad. And his feet are MUCH bigger, and he's only 12. :( I cried when I found out. Pretty soon, he'll realize he's tougher and my scoldings will mean nothing! Oh my how time flies!

I know what you mean. I can remember when he was just a baby. These past 9+ years have gone by way too fast!

I remember my son about 7 sitting on the back deck steps, I looked over at him and then looked back quickly..who was this knobby boned long arm & legged child! All the baby was gone & the young man was peaking out.
I'm really lovin your blog! Keep the posts comming!
