I liked it.

There, I said it.

I liked the book.

Alot.

It was a fun piece of fiction and it consumed me. Sucked me in (no pun intended) and left me wanting more, so I went and bought the second one instead of waiting for my hold to come up at the library.

I decided that my struggle this week has not been about the book necessarily, but more about the TIME I've spent reading that book and subsequently the second in the series. Between Sunday and Monday alone I spent about 10 hours reading.

When was the last time I spent more than 30 minutes reading the Bible?

Well if YOU liked it that much, I know I will. I still haven't finished the first one yet because I have been sucked into another project this week.

FYI, I struggle with the exact same thing you asked at the end of this post.

I am with you and Debbie on the Bible reading struggle. I am convicted of this almost every day. Why is it that I can read a great book for hours on end, but when it comes to THE greatest Book it's often hard to read more than a couple chapters...and that's a good day? It's actually quite pathetic. I'm so thankful that we serve a gracious God! But it's still no excuse!

Girl...
I know. I know, I know, I know.

My former pastor's wife and I were talking about THE book a few days ago, and how we rant, rave, and carry on. And then I said, "Conviction be thy middle name--when was the last time I raved about the Bible like this?" We hung our heads in shame. Then we had a huge discussion on how every other book in the world is easy to recommend--then you bring up God's Word, almost fearfully, because we live in a politically correct world.

But--God has the last laugh, as always. He convicted me this week about my tongue (ugh!) and led me straight to the book of James. I needed to read it. More than I need to be rereading Breaking Dawn.

So I understand. And I know!
p.s. Glad you liked it...read all 4 and then we'll talk. Take your time. We all have lives to lead! Ha!
